What to Bring

Comfortable clothes are best as well as any special items that you may need for sport or hobbies. The weather in Torquay is milder than many other parts of England but it does rain and can get cold so it is as well to be prepared. We do not often have snow here so skis are definitely not necessary! To get an idea of what to expect when you arrive have a look at: www.bbc.co.uk/weather

We suggest the following list of general clothing but take into account the time of year you are coming.
Swimming costume
Walking shoes
An umbrella
Waterproof jacket
Jumper
Scarf
Hat
Plus a good mixture of warm and light clothes.

School equipment:
Most things are available here at school but we advise you to bring a good dictionary, some writing paper and pens and a small notebook for your vocabulary. If you have been working from a book in your own country it is often helpful for your teacher to see it.
We have wi-fi at school so you might want to stay in contact with your friends while you are here from your own laptop. One important thing not to forget is your travel adaptor for your electric plugs. England uses a very different sort of plug and you will need a special adaptor for your hairdryer or other electrical equipment such as camera chargers.
Most people will have a mobile phone with a clock in it. Don’t forget to change the time when you arrive and perhaps set the alarm to wake you up for school!
